Melissa Etheridge's ex Tammy Lynn Michaels has been denied a request for a payout of $25,000 (£16,00) following her split from the musician last year.

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge rejected the demand because Etheridge is already paying her ex's expenses, on top of legal fees.

Neal Hersh, the 'Come To My Window' singer's lawyer, proved that Etheridge was giving Michaels $2,000 (£1,318) a month for bills, housing, food and care for their 3-year-old twins.

Hersh told People: "Tammy is being completely supported by Melissa and has been since they separated. She's being well-provided for and then some, as are the children, which are Melissa's first priority."

Another hearing between the pair is scheduled for September.
