The hypnotist and self-help author told Metro that the incident left him with a phobia which he had to overcome.
Asked if he had ever been bitten by an animal, McKenna said: "I was bitten by a dog when I was a child - but I was also punched by a dentist, which was more traumatic. I was only 6.
"He was taking my tooth out and told me to bite on something. He put [it] in my mouth but I bit his finger by accident.
"He told me, 'If you do that again I'll punch the rest of your f**king teeth out' and hit me in the face. I ended up with a phobia of dentists, which I eventually cured with hypnosis."
McKenna added he did not miss his stage work, explaining: "There are only so many times you can make a person think a broom is Cameron Diaz."
