The Mean Girls actress was sentenced to 90 days behind bars last month for violating her probation in relation to a 2007 charge.
She arrived at the Beverly Hills courtroom with her mother Dina and younger sister Ali this morning. Her father Michael was also present. She had been scheduled to appear at 8.30am but arrived a few minutes later.
Her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley briefly spoke to LA Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel before the judge ordered that filming and photography cease.
According to The AP, Lohan, 24, was handcuffed following a "brief hearing" and escorted from the courtroom. The judge also told officials that Lohan was not allowed to serve any of her sentence at home or on work release. It has been suggested that the actress will not serve the entire 90-day sentence because of overcrowding in the prison.
Holley is expected to meet with a prosecutor and the judge later today to discuss ongoing issues in the case.
