Miming Simpson returns to 'SNL'

Ashlee Simpson is hoping to redeem herself with a new appearance on Saturday Night Live.

The singer, who had hoped for a return after her last disastrous appearance, will perform on the episode hosted by Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) this weekend.

Simpson previously appeared on the show last October but came under fire when she was caught out lip-syncing.

When called upon to sing her new single 'Autobiography', things went wrong as a recorded vocal track to 'Pieces of Me', which she had 'sung' earlier in the show, was played on top of the band's performance. Bemused, Simpson wandered about the stage for a while before leaving.

After blaming the band for playing the wrong song, she later claimed that she had lost her voice, suffering from 'acid reflux'.
