Sir Elton John will appear alongside Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey and others on a record in tribute to the late John Peel.

Along with The Futureheads, El Presidente and The Datsuns, the trio will play a cover of The Buzzcocks' 'Ever Fallen In Love'. The Buzzcocks' own Pete Shelley will also take part, as will David Gilmour of Pink Floyd.

The single will receive its first play on all BBC radio stations on October 10, and will be released on November 21. Proceeds will be donated to Amnesty International.

The BBC quote Sir Elton as saying: "It is always important to remember people who encouraged and helped you early in your career.

"The thing I loved about John was his passion for new music and his praise for things he totally believed in."
