Corinne Bailey Rae has insisted that she will never join a social networking site.

The singer revealed that she does not approve of "attention-seeking" sites like Facebook and Twitter and prefers to interact with her fans in person, reports the Daily Star.

"I'm trying to be here, present, enjoying this time in my life right now. I don't want to be someone who can't wait to tweet or blog about a moment. Live in the moment," she explained.

"The Facebook thing is about showing off. I really dislike that. It's attention-seeking. Sometimes I hang around a venue at the end of a gig for hours. If people say, 'I like this song', I'd much rather have a normal conversation."

It was recently announced that Bailey Rae has been nominated for this year's Barclaycard Mercury Prize.
