The TV host completed his move to Los Angeles this week by selling his seven-bedroom, eight-bath Central Park corner penthouse for less than the $29.5 million (£18.9m) listing price, reports the New York Post.
Discovery Communications CEO David Zaslav purchased the home.
"David and Conan know each other well. David was at NBC for 20 years before he moved to Discovery," said a source.
O'Brien moved to Los Angeles after negotiating his exit deal with NBC.
His abbreviated run on NBC's Tonight Show was recently nominated for an Emmy in the category of 'Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series'.
