Kate Garraway "chuffed" for Ben Shephard

Kate Garraway has said that she is "chuffed" for Ben Shephard after he landed a new role at Sky Sports.

In her New column Garraway praised her "close friend" after he presented his final edition of GMTV last week.

"Ben and I started on the show on the same day and we've been close friends ever since. He's lovely and I'm going to miss him loads, but we'll still see a lot of each other," she wrote.

"He's landed an amazing job at Sky Sports and I'm chuffed to bits for him. Covering the World Cup last month made him realise how much he loves sport, so he'll be in his element, I'm sure."

Garraway will take up a new position as entertainment editor when GMTV relaunches as Daybreak next month.

She added: "We didn't have a big, boozy leaving do, as Ben had to rush off on Friday to prepare for his charity run (he's running 145 miles over five days!), but we had a family day out on Thursday.

"Along with Clare Nasir, her husband and daughter Sienna, Ben and I got our kids and partners together for lunch on the South Bank," she said. "It was lovely, and proof just how much we've grown up in the last ten years!"
