Michael Jackson is apparently close to finishing a new charity single, proceeds of which will go to victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The star's spokeswoman explained that Jackson is using global satellites and phone connections to work with the artists, as he is currently living in Bahrain.
The rep added: "All that remains is for two or three artists to do their tracks. Michael will then add his vocals."
Artists due to to appear on the record include legend James Brown, rapper Jay-Z and Mariah Carey. Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott are also thought to be involved.
The title of the song, which has already been rewritten a number of times, is still uncertain. Jackson hopes to release it before the end of November.
Charities to benefit include the Bill Clinton-George Bush Katrina Fund, a disaster fund from the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences and the Push-Excel Hurricane Katrina College Relief Fund.
