Pilots issued an SOS call at 40,000ft after alarms went off in the cockpit during Saturday's London to Los Angeles British Airways flight, reports the Daily Star.
The plane apparently turned round over sea and flew back to Heathrow, where emergency services were scrambled to ensure a safe landing.
The shaken passengers are believed to have been escorted from the aircraft and put up for the night in nearby hotels.
Beckham, who was flying to LA to meet husband David and their three sons, has since completed the journey on a second plane.
Her spokesman said: “She didn’t miss any meetings or anything like that because she was just going home. It meant an extra night in London but she’s back in America now.
“She’s fine and there’s nothing to worry about.”
A spokesman for BA said: “There was no risk. The airborne return was a precautionary measure.”
