Jennifer Ellison is being targeted by an internet stalker who is trying to pose as her.
The impostor has sent various letters and emails in Jennifer's name, including one to EastEnders producer John Yorke, begging to join the BBC One soap. Ellison's supposed ambition to join the show was then reported by the press.
"It's all rubbish," Jennifer told the Daily Star. "I don't know why they are doing this. I never use computers. Someone's trying to ruin my life - but they won't succeed."
A spokeswoman for the former Brookside actress said that there had been other sinister incidents which she preferred to keep private.
"We've got no idea why this person is doing it other than to get a sick thrill," she explained. "We can only conclude that someone is out to hurt Jen."
