Torn seeks probation on break-in charge

Actor Rip Torn is seeking probation to resolve a charge that he broke into a bank while intoxicated.

According to The AP, the Easy Rider star said that he believed he was entering his own home when be broke into the Connecticut building while carrying a loaded gun in January.

Torn will request an accelerated rehabilitation programme, which will erase the charges against him after a probation period.

Prosecutors are opposing the probation request.

Torn is due in Litchfield Superior Court in Connecticut on Wednesday.
