A 911 call made by an unknown male reporting Fantasia Barrino's recent overdose has been released.

She was rushed to hospital on Monday after taking a near-fatal combination of aspirin and prescription sleep aids.

In the tape obtained by TMZ, the caller - believed to be the singer's manager Brian Dickens - told dispatchers that Fantasia was "losing consciousness" when discovered in her North Carolina apartment.

"An individual took a bottle of aspirin and she is slowly losing consciousness," he said.

"I'm outside, but somebody is with her inside. She's in the shower. Her family tried to put her in the shower to try to keep her awake until the paramedics get there."

The man was then instructed to remove Fantasia from the shower and wait for help to arrive.

Barrino is currently still in hospital, but is expected to be released soon.
