One of the greatest parts of writing up this DS Icon feature every week - aside from googling images of Grotbags and Kriss Akabusi - is being able to return once household names back into the limelight. We're fairly certain that a significant number of our readers are unaware of who Judi Spiers is. Unless you are from the Devon region or loved the much-missed BBC magazine show Pebble Mill, you may never have stumbled across her.
However, those who do recall Spiers will only speak fondly of her as a broadcaster. OK, so her stint at Radio 2 may have been a bit of a disaster and admittedly her appearances on the light entertainment circuit in the early '90s were limited to spots on You Bet! and little else, but aside from that she was an incredibly popular TV personality. Her work on the likes of Open Air, Pebble Mill and TVS's Scavenger Hunt have, by us at least, not been forgotten. She's still working on regional radio to this day, so if you haven't made time for some Spiers in your life yet, you still have plenty of time.
