Carol Vorderman has given tribute to former Countdown presenter Richard Whiteley at a service in his honour.
The event, held at York Minster, was attended by more than 2000 people including Vorderman, Lesley Garrett and comedian Jo Brand.
Vordeman led the tributes, saying: "We loved him not because he was smooth but because he wore truly bad jackets, deafening ties and jokes that were so bad jokes only Richard could tell."
“We are here today to celebrate a unique man. Richard loved every moment of his life, which he lived to the full.???
Gyles Brandreth and comedian Barry Cryer also paid their respects, as did Whitely’s niece Georgina Stewart. "He was scared of death he had not finished the business of living," she said.
