18-year-old pop star Joss Stone has been marked out for her impact on the international music scene by the publishers of Debrett's, a book that lists its own version of the UK's top achievers.
The book identifies 24,000 UK individuals that it believes have made a "significant" contribution to British society. New names this year include actress Joanna Lumley and well-known TV presenters Ant and Dec, as well as singers such as Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones and Dame Shirley Bassey. Special mentions went to Sir Bob Geldof and Sir Trevor McDonald.
Writers such as Captain Corelli's Mandolin author Louis de Bernieres and Tracey Chevalier were added to the eclectic listings, and artists Jack Vettriano, Marc Quinn and Lucian Freud also made a 2005 debut.
