Fantasia Barrino thanks fans for support

Fantasia Barrino has thanked fans for their support following a recent suicide attempt.

The former American Idol winner was rushed to a North Carolina hospital last week after overdosing on a combination of aspirin and prescription sleep aids.

In a statement released by her label J Records, the singer said: "I can't thank my fans enough for their prayers and support during such a challenging time.

"It has given me the motivation to get back to work... I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this album and I pray that everyone enjoys it as much as I do."

The incident came just days after Barrino was accused of making a sex tape with a married man.
