Michael Lohan's former fiancée has reportedly said that she wants to drop criminal charges against him.

The father of Lindsay Lohan was charged with second degree harassment in July after former journalist Kate Major claimed that he assaulted her.

According to The AP, Lohan appeared at a court in New York this morning and entered a not guilty plea, before Major then told the judge that she wanted that charge - and a restraining order against him - dropped.

The judge reportedly told Lohan that the case will be dismissed if he stays out of trouble for the next six months.

Major told E! News that she is "happy" with the outcome and that she is ready to "move forward in a positive direction and put this all behind me".

Lohan added: "I wish Kate the best and I'm sorry this ever happened. We have been through a lot together and I hope that we will remain friends. I plan on meeting/talking to her soon to resolve any outstanding issues."
