Maria Gabriela Perez was arrested yesterday at her salon on two counts of fraud.
Perez is alleged to have used the credit card information to make hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of purchases, including $214,000 (£138,000) charged to cards belonging to Liv Tyler alone.
Other celebrity clients are thought to include Jennifer Aniston, Melanie Griffith, Scott Speedman and Anne Hathaway. It was also reported that Cher was named as a victim in the lawsuit, but her representative later told TMZ that she had not lost any money.
An attorney for Perez told The AP that he believes his client will be "exonerated" of the charges, which carry a maximum of 25 years behind bars.
She is scheduled to appear in federal court today.
