Maria Gabriela Perez has been accused of using the credit card details of high-profile clients such as Liv Tyler to buy hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of goods.
When asked about the situation on Good Morning America, the Switch actress said: "I sort of got out of that world about five years ago because some stuff was not... It wasn't to the extent that these other girls."
George Stephanopoulos then asked if she had "sensed" that something was wrong, to which she replied: "We had a situation that was not cool so I stopped going to her, paid the money and left."
She added: "I knew something like this would eventually happen because there's no way you can get away with that."
Perez is expected to appear in federal court today. Her attorney told The AP that he believes his client will be "exonerated" of the charges, which carry a maximum of 25 years behind bars.
