The Going The Distance star said that she 'loves her work', and admitted that giving it up for a relationship is "terrifying".
The actress was speaking at the London premiere of the comedy, in which she stars with on-off boyfriend Long.
Barrymore said: "I love what I do so much and it's terrifying, the idea of having to give it up for a relationship.
"I also think it's unhealthy to give up your whole life for someone, and put all your hopes and happiness on them. But I think a lot of women are struggling with that - 'Can I have the job and the guy too?' I relate to that."
