Wyclef Jean 'not on candidates list'

A source has claimed that Wyclef Jean has not made the the list of approved candidates for the presidential election in Haiti.

The provisional electoral council is due to publish the list for the November 28 vote today and it has been suggested that Jean could be excluded for not being resident in the country for sufficient time.

An unnamed source told Reuters of Jean: "He is not on the list as I speak."

He added that Haiti's electoral disputes bureau ruled that the ex-Fugees singer did not meet several legal requirements for approval.

Jean has insisted that he is eligible for the election but also added that he will "continue doing what I've been doing in Haiti" as a "respected" political force if he is not approved today.
