Royal Variety could return to Wales

Organisers have said Wales could again host the Royal Variety Show, which is traditionally held in London.

In its 77 year history the annual event has previously been held in only three locations - London, Birmingham and Edinburgh.

The Wales Millennium Centre put on this year's show, which featured stars such as Ozzy Osbourne, Dame Shirley Bassey and Welsh singer Charlotte Church.

Producer James Sunderland said it had gone brilliantly. "The night exceeded all our expectations," he commented. "The Wales Millennium Centre is spectacular and exactly what you need for a show as big as the Royal Variety Performance."

He says the Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund, who are also involved in the organisation, were also impressed, adding: "I'm sure they would be interested in bringing it back to Wales."
