In a Los Angeles court on Monday, a superior court judge delayed the pre-trial hearing until next year due to witness availability and the fluidity of the ongoing investigation against the physician, according to The AP.
At January's hearing, evidence will be presented against Murray for the first time and the judge will then decide if the doctor should stand trial on involuntary manslaughter charges.
The popstar's physician is accused of administering a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol, but his attorneys claim that Jackson was given nothing that should have killed him.
The late 'Thriller' singer's family, including parents Joseph and Katherine Jackson, appeared in the Los Angeles courtroom yesterday and spent time waving to fans when the proceedings ended.
Murray is due back in court on October 26 for a status hearing. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
