The Crocodile Dundee star, who lives in LA with wife Linda Kozlowski and 12-year-old son Chance but recently returned to his home country for his mother's funeral, has been told that he has to remain there until his ongoing tax dispute with the Australian Tax Office is resolved.
Andrew Robinson told The Daily Telegraph: "[He] could potentially be stuck in Australia for years. It is not looking good; this is a very serious order [from the tax office].
"It was served on Paul's daughter at her Sydney home on Friday night with the funeral on Saturday morning. Imagine on the night before you bury your mother for this to happen.
"The process of detaining Paul in Australia away from his wife and child in Los Angeles has devastated him and he hopes that discussions between us and the ATO will lead to a prompt resolution allowing him to return to his family.
"You're talking about a person who has paid literally millions and millions and millions of dollars in Australian tax and brought countless millions of dollars... back into the economy."
