In an interview with Q magazine, the 'XXXO' singer admitted that she was frustrated that her involvement with Sri Lankan politics has barred her mother from coming to the US to visit her family.
"They've (the government) singled me out. They said my mum would be fine if I just apologised to the Sri Lankan embassy," she said.
"Which I'm not gonna do. It's not like she actually knows how to make a f**king bomb, strap it on and walk into Tesco's."
She added that Clinton's help did not provide a quick fix.
"We've had Hillary Clinton involved. Hills got back [to us] and she was like, 'You know, it happens'."
M.I.A. recently claimed that the Sri Lankan government has forced her fans to remove her videos from YouTube.
