Johnston, Palin 'share attitude to limelight'

Levi Johnston has claimed that ex-girlfriend Bristol Palin has the same attitude to the limelight as he has.

The aspiring politician was engaged to Sarah Palin's daughter in 2008 but they separated after the birth of their son Tripp that December. They reconciled earlier this year but split again in August.

"It was just miserable for both of us. We were constantly fighting, trying to make it work for Tripp and it wasn't the right thing to do," he told CBS's The Early Show.

When asked about Palin's comments that he was "obsessed" with the limelight, he replied: "I don't think I'm anymore obsessed with making a career out of this than she is."

However, correspondent Betty Nguyen then pressed Johnston on his attitude to fame considering he has posed for Playboy and has his own reality show, to which he replied: "I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with it, I'm just taking opportunities as they come."

He added that he is confident about running for office in Wasilla, AK, and insisted that his decision to run for mayor had nothing to do with Sarah Palin once holding the office.
