According to TMZ, the actor "ripped his cornea" while rehearsing for Melissa & Joey on Thursday.
It is thought that another actor accidentally poked Lawrence in the eye with a script when leaning over to hug his co-star Melissa Joan Hart.
Lawrence was taken to the doctor for treatment. He is expected to recover soon and return to work on the weekend.
Melissa & Joey airs Tuesday nights on ABC Family.
