The actor has admitted that he feels a sense of normalcy when he arrives at his family's house in the south London district of Greenwich.
The 32-year-old told Bang Showbiz: "When you spend so much time away from home and doing things like this and talking about yourself too much it can be very painful. But actually to go home among people who know you extremely well and you can't be anything other than yourself in front of these people, it's a relief, really. It gives you a sense of who you are again. It's an existence of feeling very unsettled."
Cooper also insisted that he feels fortunate to have kept the same group of friends that he's known since childhood.
He added: "If you are lucky enough to have a group of friends and a family somewhere - all of my friends I've known since I was at school when I was four or five - it's perfect. You remind yourself of who you are and it reminds you that you are no more special than anyone else no matter what you do or who you are and if you have a film or TV career."
