A collection of more than 40 acrylic paintings by singer Bob Dylan have been displayed in Denmark's National Gallery.

The AP reports that the Brazil Series was specially commissioned by the museum and is now being shown to the public for the very first time.

The exhibit includes sketches of Brazilian beaches, farms and slums that the star completed during several visits to South America.

The museum's curator Kasper Monrad stated that there are connections between the singer's paintings and his musical catalogue.

Dylan did not attend Wednesday's first public presentation of the art in Copenhagen.

The Brazil Series exhibit will run through January 2011.
