Momsen 'didn't know knives were illegal'

Taylor Momsen has said that she was surprised by the controversy that followed her comments about carrying knives.

The Pretty Reckless singer and Gossip Girl actress was criticised by anti-knife crime campaigners when she revealed that she carries a switchblade "all the time".

The 17-year-old told Heat: "I have, like, tons of knives from gas stations - I've got loads.

"When I said that, I didn't realise they were illegal. Loads of girls carry them - they're useful. Like, to cut cords, and labels off clothes and stuff.

"I didn't think it was a big thing."
