Craig Phillips stepped in to save a panto co-star who was attacked by a member of their audience.
The winner of the first Big Brother restrained a man after he lashed out at DJ Chris "Edgy" Edgecombe, who is appearing with Phillips in a performance of Aladdin in Torquay.
"He landed a beauty on Edgy's chin," said Phillips, 35. "Some people in the audience thought it was part of the show. I raced over and grabbed him around the arms."
Star of the show, comic Syd Little, added: "Craig was fantastic. He just came back and carried on with the show."
It later emerged that the stage-invader was part of a group with learning disabilities. Phillips pointed out: "I didn't know that at the time."
