Britney sues over false sex tape

Britney Spears is reportedly suing American magazine US Weekly over claims that she and Kevin are worried about the release of a secret sex tape.

The lawsuit is seeking $20 million in damages - $10 million for libel and $10 million for the misappropriation of Spears' name to boost sales - as well as unspecified punitive damages.

The article in question was published on October 17, and claimed that the couple were worried about the release of a sex tape that they had recorded and shown to estate planning lawyers. The couple were said to be "acting goofy the whole time" while watching the tape.

"There was no laughter, disgust or goofy behaviour while watching the video in the company of lawyers because they did not watch any video, and because there is no such video," the lawsuit states.

Britney's lawsuit against US Weekly is not the first: the singer is also suing the magazine for publishing pictures of her honeymoon in the Fiji Islands.
