An insider has claimed that Paris Hilton is jealous of Kim Kardashian's success.

Hilton apparently feels threatened by her former friend and is trying to increase her own fame to compete.

The source told Now: "Paris is going nuts over Kim's fame and it's making her take bigger risks to keep her name on the radar."

Hilton was recently found in possession of cocaine and could face four years in jail.

The socialite is apparently intending to use her pets as an excuse to avoid going to prison.

Another insider said: "She's been joking about how hot she looks in her mug shot and Googling herself. She plans to use her 25 pets as another excuse to avoid jail."

When her friends argued that this is a poor defence, she allegedly replied: "They're very attached to me."
