The Wizards Of Waverly Place star recently told MTV News that Bieber "deserved" to pick up a trophy at this weekend's ceremony because she knew that he had worked hard for his success.
In a message to Gomez on his Twitter account, Bieber said: "Thanks 4 the love! hoping for the best. and congrats because your new single and video r amazing!! (sic)"
Bieber - who recently named Gomez as his ideal movie co-star - will go up against Ke$ha, Jason Derulo, Nicki Minaj and Broken Bells in the 'Best New Artist' category at the Sunday ceremony.
He is also scheduled to perform and recently teased that fans could expect an exciting show. "Hyped about this VMA performance," he tweeted. "Gonna be sick!!!"
