Pinto: 'I was right to leave fiancé'

Freida Pinto has said that she made the right choice by leaving her former fiancé after falling in love with her Slumdog Millionaire co-star Dev Patel.

The actress told The New York Times that she has never doubted her decision to end her relationship with publicist Rohan Antao in 2009.

"I feel what I did was right," she said. "There were no two ways about it."

Pinto claimed that she recognised elements of her own personal life in the script for her latest film, Woody Allen's You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger.

She explained: "When I walked into Woody [Allen]'s office and read the scene in the nursery, where [her character] Dia confesses for the first time that she has doubts about what she is getting into, I was like, 'Has someone been reading the gossip magazines to Woody?'"

You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger will premiere on September 23 in US cinemas.
