Shannon, Jones 'threaten to sue over sex tape'

Playboy playmate Karissa Shannon and Smallville actor Sam Jones III have threatened legal action in a bid to prevent the release of a sex tape the couple made together.

Jones, who played Peter Ross in early seasons of the show, and Shannon both met with their lawyers earlier this week after Vivid Entertainment boss Steve Hirsch received a copy of their "extremely erotic" footage from an anonymous but "reputable third party".

TMZ reports that the couple have attempted to halt distribution of the scenes by sending a cease and desist letter to Hirsch following their legal consultations.

Shannon has also threatened to sue The Hills star Spencer Pratt for allegedly stealing the tape from her Los Angeles home.

She had previously admitted to filming a a sexual encounter with his estranged wife Heidi Montag.
