Simon Cowell 'to become film producer'

Simon Cowell is reportedly establishing a production company which will specialise in music-themed films.

According to the Daily Express, Cowell has been inspired to branch out into movies following the success of this year's StreetDance 3D.

A source told the newspaper: "Simon wants to exploit his talent relationships and make music and dance-themed movies which are perennially popular at the box office.

"It's great news for the British film industry as the company will be a one-stop shop with potential finance and distribution through Sony."

Speaking of StreetDance 3D, which featured Britain's Got Talent winners George Sampson and Diversity, the insider added: "Cowell had no involvement in the movie and it must have rankled that the acts he had made famous were the stars of the show.

"With his own film company he won't miss a trick like that again. Simon's got such great instincts that it shouldn't be long before he's celebrating his first big blockbuster."
