Penny Lancaster has revealed that her unborn baby may have lost a twin.

The 39-year-old model has been informed by doctors that she might have been expecting twins, and not just one child, were it not for 'killer cells'.

Lancaster, who also spoke about having "had a miscarriage" early in her relationship with rocker Rod Stewart, is quoted in The Sun as saying: "When I got the positive pregnancy test I found out that killer cells were becoming aggressive.

"[The doctors] put me on a course of steroids which helped suppress them.

"They concluded that there might have been more than one baby, but the killer cells got to one of them."

Lancaster announced her pregnancy in August, later admitting that she was forced to conceive using IVF treatment.

The couple's son Alastair - Stewart's seventh child overall - is now four.
