Tom Brady "in shock" after car collision

Tom Brady has reportedly admitted that he was "scared out of [his] mind" when he was involved in a recent car collision.

The New England Patriots star was travelling to practice in Boston on Thursday morning when his car was involved in a collision with a minivan at an intersection.

Speaking to Boston's WEEI radio station, he said: "I'm telling you, when it happened, I didn't even know what to do, because you're just in shock. I was kind of sitting there in the car, looking around, trying to get my bearings."

The NFL star - who is married to Gisele Bundchen - went on to say that his initial thoughts were to call his coach to say he would be late for training, and checking to make sure the passengers in the other car and a woman who had been walking her dog nearby were unhurt.

The woman was not injured but a passenger in the minivan was taken to hospital to undergo emergency surgery and his attorney said yesterday that he remains in a serious condition.

Brady - who was unhurt in the incident - added: "That was a scary morning for all of us. Man, wear your seat belts, that's all I can tell everybody, because you just never know."

He also praised the emergency crews who attended the scene, saying: "The people in the ambulance, the medics, the fire, they were very professional. They were great. Like I said, the older gentleman in the other car definitely needed to be attended to, so that’s what they were focused on with their time and hopefully he's OK."

Police have said that the driver of the minivan had run a red light, although according to The AP, he has insisted that he had the green.
