Ricky Gervais has revealed that he thinks comedians have to be fat and over 30 to be funny.

"I wasn't funny until I was fat," Gervais told the Daily Star. "You can't be a proper comic until you realise your own shortcomings, which probably means you have to be at least 30.

"I hate young comics trying to impress you with how cool and in control they are."
