Two men trying to extort $1 million from Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have been arrested, according to the New York Post.
Tito Moses, 31, and Steven Wortman, 40, had stolen singer Anthony's laptop at the end of October, jacking Anthony's car while he filmed a music video in New Jersey. It held a digital copy of the couple's June 2004 wedding.
A few weeks later, they tried to sell the video to several media outlets such as Access Hollywood and People magazine, all of whom refused to pay for the footage. The pair, getting more desperate, contacted Marc Anthony Productions to demand payment for the return of the laptop. However, the couple got in touch with the police, who then worked undercover to track the two, who already hold a number of convictions between them.
They were arrested in a NYPD sting operation earlier this week, after trying to sell the video to undercover policemen posing as members of Anthony's team. Major Case Squad Inspector Michael Hines explained: "They were shocked because they thought they were coming for their payday--and instead, they got the surprise of their lives."
Assistant District Attorney Jordan Arnold said Wortman and Moses "essentially held it for ransom" and "threatened to destroy" the video if not paid sufficiently. "Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez are completely thrilled," Hines added.
Anthony and Lopez are currently filming salsa biopic El Cantante together in New York.
