The VH1 Save the Music foundation is to honour Julie Andrews in November.

The foundation will hold a gala in New York City to pay tribute to Andrews and celebrate the 45th anniversary of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"My passion for music, the arts and literacy has been a life-long endeavour... and the ability to play in those sandboxes professionally has given me such joy," Music star Andrews said of the honour.

John Legend, John Mayer and The ASCAP Foundation will also receive awards during the event.

Natasha Bedingfield is to perform at the gala on November 8 at New York's Cipriani restaurant.
