Naveen Andrews has admitted fathering a child while on a break with girlfriend Barbara Hershey.
During a brief separation between Andrews and Hershey last year, Andrews slept with another woman, and has recently learned that he is the father of her baby boy.
In a statement released on Friday, Andrews explained: "I have every intention of assuming appropriate responsibility for the child."
Andrews said that he had worked things out with Hershey and they plan to stay committed to their relationship.
The 35-year-old plays Sayid Jarrah, a former member of Iraq's Republican Guard, on Lost, and is currently nominated for a Golden Globe for supporting actor in a series, miniseries or movie.
