Updated: Christina Aguilera splits with husband

Christina Aguilera and her husband of five years have split up.

The popstar and music executive Jordan Bratman have apparently been separated for a few months.

Aguilera said in a statement: "Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever."

A source told US Weekly that the pair have not yet decided to divorce, but explained that "they are now living apart, and they will see how that goes".

The insider continued: "They were very much in love. But over the last six months, it became clear they were more like friends than husband and wife."

Aguilera and Bratman met in 2002 and married in 2005. They have 2-year-old son Max together.

The source added that the former couple remain committed to raising Max, saying: "He is their main concern."
