Talking to the Daily Mail, the Sex And The City actress revealed that the team's anthem 'You'll Never Walk Alone' reminds her of her father, who is suffering from dementia.
"I'm a proud supporter of Liverpool FC. Whenever I hear 'You'll Never Walk Alone' I get highly emotional," she explained.
"But I don't follow the game as closely as my dad does. Sadly he's in a home now, suffering from dementia. When Liverpool are on the telly he'll sit there with his scarf and mug, on his Steven Gerrard pillow."
Cattrall added: "The city is a big part of who I am. It goes very deep with me. Liverpool has always been a tough city to live in, but the people, particularly the women, have a remarkable resilience.
"The famous Scouse sense of humour has always been an effective release from the hardships people have endured. Football has also been a great escape."
