The former fiancée of Bristol Palin - who announced his political ambitions earlier this year - was quizzed on The View yesterday about his plans for the town.
Barbara Walters started the interview by asking him if it would be better to "learn a trade, find a job and get an education and support [his] son" rather than seeking publicity.
"I'm going to have to say that running for mayor is a job and job I want to take," he replied, before Walters then questioned him on what qualifications he had for the role.
"Qualifications for mayor?" he responded. "There really are none. You've got to live in the city limits for one year; you don't need a high school diploma - which I'm working on anyway. I feel like this is one of the biggest challenges of my life and I want to do it for myself and my son."
The 20-year-old went on to reveal that he does not have a platform for his bid yet but insisted his priority was keeping Wasilla a "great place" for his son with Palin and its residents.
He also insisted that he has no regrets about anything he has done when the subject of his nude Playgirl shoot was raised, adding that he "takes in everything and [is] building off it and learning off it".
The View airs weekdays on ABC.
