Christina Aguilera's lawyer 'axes judge'

Christina Aguilera's lawyer has reportedly filed documents to dismiss the judge that has been assigned to oversee the star's divorce.

Earlier this month, Aguilera confirmed that she was splitting from husband of five years Jordan Bratman, before instigating divorce proceedings.

TMZ reports that Aguilera's lawyer Laura Wasser has taken action to disqualify LA County Superior Judge Elia Weinbach from the case.

According to the website, Wasser's law firm has a rule that all high-profile divorces are heard with private judges, meaning that proceedings are usually held "behind closed doors".

No further details of the judge's dismissal have been released.
