Avril Lavigne to become supermodel

Punk princess Avril Lavigne has decided to drop her hardcore image and get more "feminine" for ads.

The star has signed up with Elizabeth Jagger's modelling agency Ford - and aims to land a high-fashion advertising campaign.

Avril told Harper's Bazaar: "I want to do those really beautiful ads with the high-end products. I look through magazines and stare at ads and think: 'I'm not six feet tall, but I know I can do that.'"

In the process of shedding her tomboy image, Avril has begun experimenting with cosmetics and clothes.

"I'm starting to feel more feminine," she says. "I'm getting into hair and make-up and image. That's the best part of being a girl."
