Alex James to receive honorary degree

The musician and journalist, who was born locally, will be made an honorary doctor of arts during a graduation ceremony on November 5. James will attend the event along with hundreds of students.
Speaking to the BBC, Professor John Vinney said: "Alex James has achieved a great deal of success through his music, his writing, his media work and his entrepreneurial activities."
James penned autobiography Bit of a Blur in 2007 and has written for The Independent, The Observer, The Times, Q magazine and The Idler. He has also produced award-winning cheeses from his farm in Oxfordshire.
The ceremony will take place at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC).
